Rewild Play Therapy
Empowering children to thrive through play & creativity.
Welcome to Rewild Play Therapy, a creative psychotherapy service that utilises the power of play and creativity to support children and young people (3 – 17) to navigate difficult life experiences.
“Play is the bridge that connects a child’s inner world to the outer world”. Garry Landreth
What is Play Therapy?
In play therapy, toys are like the child’s words and play is the child’s language. Through play, children make sense of their feelings and lived experiences. Play therapy provides children with the opportunity to ‘play out’ their problems or feelings with a therapeutic objective – unlocking their potential for self growth. The child chooses what to play with and how, while the therapist observes and interacts as needed. By providing a safe atmosphere, with clear boundaries, the child has the freedom to fully express themselves, without judgement.
Creative Psychotherapy
(specialising in play)
Creative psychotherapy combines the principles of psychotherapy with play therapy techniques.
This involves deeper psychological understanding of mental health issues from both a developmental and clinical perspective and utilises more structured interventions.
It might involve supporting a client to identify the unconscious thought processes that create how they feel and behave.
Psychotherapy with a specialisation in play therapy describes professionals who are qualified to support children and young people who are experiencing complex issues or trauma.
Working integratively and humanistically, psychotherapists who specialise in play can support such clients to process the difficult life experiences that have shaped their world.
